Products & Services for City Utility Customers

This is a complete list of all the current products & services being offered by the City of Tallahassee Utilities.

Services

  • Start | Stop | Transfer Utility Services - You have several ways to connect, disconnect and transfer your utilities.
  • Budget Billing - allows you to have a level amount in your monthly utility bill.
  • Free Home Energy Audits - are available to any of our electric customers who would like to have their homes evaluated for energy and water efficiency.
  • Medical Alert - is a program that provides customers that require the use of life-sustaining medical equipment with reasonable notice before intentional disruption of service which, in turn, allows them time to secure backup power for their medically essential equipment.
  • Natural Gas Pilot Lighting Service - is available for Natural Gas Utility customers who would like to have their appliance lit for a fee.
  • Neighborhood REACH - is an energy-saving program designed to help utility customers in Tallahassee's older neighborhoods.
  • Solar Net-Metering - is available to all electric customers who have a qualified solar photovoltaic (PV) system on their premises.
  • Tallahassee Solar - provides customers with the option of using solar energy without requiring the up-front costs of installing solar panels on their home or business.

Grants

  • Ceiling Insulation Grants - are available to all electric customers who are below qualified levels of insulation.
  • Code Enforcement Rehabilitation Grants - up to $2,500 help correct code violations and some measures can be taken in this program to complement other energy programs.
  • Energy-Efficiency Retrofit Grants - up to $500 grants are available for qualified customers to help repair their HVAC systems.
  • Sewer Over Septic - is a grant program from the State of Florida through the City of Tallahassee to fund the entire cost of connecting eligible properties to the City's sewer system and abandoning septic tanks.

Rebates

  • Efficient HVAC Rebates - are available to any electric customer who purchases a qualified heating or cooling system.
  • ENERGY STAR Appliance Rebates - are available to any electric customer who purchases a qualified appliance.
  • ENERGY STAR Home Rebates - are available to any of our electric customers who customize their homes to the qualified ENERGY STAR level.
  • Natural Gas Appliance Rebates - are available to anyone who has natural gas or is in the process of connecting and purchases a qualified home appliance.
  • Smart Thermostat Rebates - are available to City electric utility customers who purchase and install an eligible ecobee, Google Nest or Honeywell Lyric smart thermostat in their home.
  • Solar Water Heater Rebates - are available for any electric customer who purchases a qualified home system.

Loans

  • Energy-Efficiency Loans - provide utility customers with a way to purchase appliances that will help them save energy, water and money.
  • Homeowner Rehabilitation Loans - up to $40,000 are available to enhance and strengthen neighborhoods through the substantial rehabilitation of owner-occupied housing.
  • Sewer Connection Loans - are available for any homeowner who has City sewer service available and would like to connect.
  • Stormwater On-Site Mitigation Loans - assist City residents with private drainage problems by providing low-interest or grant financing for on-site improvements.

Financial Assistance

  • Deposit Deferrals and Installments - When establishing new services, customers may be allowed to waive or defer the deposit or schedule installments on their utility bill.
  • Home Energy Assistance Programs, LIHEAP and DEAP - The Capital Area Community Action Agency provides bill payment assistance, emergency bill assistance and weatherization services.
  • Payment Assistance for Seniors - Elder Care Services offers payment assistance to eligible senior citizens who are in need of help.
  • Project Share is a contribution-based program that helps qualifying customers pay their utility bill.
  • Salvation Army Payment Assistance - Eligible customers can receive a one-time payment assistance from the Salvation Army.
  • Weatherization Assistance Program - provides assistance to qualified customers that will make their homes more resistant to the weather-related elements that can cause higher bills.
  • Weather Relief Assistance Program (WRAP) - is a payment assistance program for any utility customer who would like to defer up to 25% of their bill to the following month due to unusually extreme weather patterns.
