Fitness Classes
Fitness classes are being offered virtually on-demand, via the Tallahassee Senior Center Facebook page, WCOT TV (and Cable Channel 13 on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 9 am), and on-demand recorded links of classes, and on occasion live, virtual classes. Lifelong Learning Classes
Lifelong Learning Classes are being offered virtually via zoom, registration and listings are available here. A variety of interesting classes are offered throughout the year for adults who enjoy the fun and excitement of learning new things. We offer classes in diverse areas such as history, science, nature, music, current events and places of interest in the Big Bend region. Art Programs
Ongoing art classes and workshops are being offered via Zoom. Listings and registration for online virtual art classes are available here. Art cards can be used for on-going classes (not workshops); art cards are $70 – 8 classes for the price of 7 and apply as you take a class. UPSLIDE
UPSLIDE (Utilizing and Promoting Social Engagement for Loneliness, Isolation and Depression in the Elderly) Program - Help is available if you, or a friend, are feeling lonely or isolated? UPSLIDE serves people age 50 and older. At this time, UPSLIDE offers individual counseling by phone and video conferencing; virtual Friends Connection meetings allow social connection and support for participants; and a private Facebook page so that UPSLIDErs can stay in touch with each other. Email Melanie.Lachman@talgov.com or call 850-891-4066 for more information/assistance/individual counseling. Services are provided at no cost to participants, but donations accepted. UPSLIDE is sponsored by the Florida Blue Foundation and the Tallahassee Senior Center Foundation.
Grandparents as Parents (GaP)
Grandparents as Parents program is for grandparents who are the primary caregivers for their grandchildren and offers support groups, informational luncheons, access to community agencies, legal services and health screenings plus social activities for the whole grand-family. GaP is a program of the Tallahassee Senior Foundation funded by the Leon County Commission, grants and donations.
Southside Senior Services & Outreach
Southside participants are eager to meet and regain contact with each other, our regular community partners, and become healthier in all aspects of our lives. Since we cannot do this face to face, we are meeting virtually. Plans are in the works for a series of Healthy for Life and Wellness Circle virtual Classes via Zoom.
