TPD Deters Solicitations
August 23, 2017
Over the last week, the Tallahassee Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit has been focusing on prostitution in our city. Driven by citizen complaints, the Special Investigations Unit, worked within those communities to determine the areas in which TPD’s presence would deter the most crimes.
Two undercover operations focused on street level prostitution, resulting in 14 arrests. A third operation targeted another popular form of prostitution, the use internet advertising to perpetrate the crimes. This operation took place on Friday of last week and resulted in the arrest of 10 people for various crimes, ranging from prostitution to a weapons violation for carrying a concealed electronic stun gun.
“TPD is committed to ensuring the safety of our citizens and will continue striving to make Tallahassee a place all people can live, work and play in the safest environment possible. On a day to day basis, TPD officers are listening to our citizens’ concerns and taking the necessary steps to drive the crime rate down in our city,” said Chief Michael DeLeo.
