Partial Intersection Closure This Weekend
July 26, 2013
Starting Monday, July 29, southbound Blair Stone Road will be closed from Orange Avenue to Paul Russell Road and from Paul Russell Road to New Village Avenue, near the entrance to the Southwood Village shopping center. Access to the Southwood Village shopping center and other area businesses will remain open. The intersection of Paul Russell Road will also remain open, following a partial closure this weekend.
Starting tomorrow, crews will be working in the intersection of Paul Russell and Blair Stone roads. The intersection will be closed in the southbound lanes over the weekend and into Monday morning, July 27-29. Southbound traffic on Blair Stone Road is being detoured at Orange Avenue. Motorists on Paul Russell Road will be detoured at Jim Lee Road to Orange Avenue. Northbound traffic on Blair Stone Road will not be impacted.
Pending no unforeseen circumstances, the intersection will reopen by mid-day on Monday, July 29. At that time, southbound traffic will be closed between Paul Russell Road and New Village Avenue. The existing closure between Orange Avenue and Paul Russell Road will remain, and Orange Avenue will continue to be used as a detour. Northbound traffic on Blair Stone Road will not be impacted. This traffic pattern will last through the end of the project, which is expected to be in mid-September.
Motorists are reminded to reduce their speed through construction zones. This creates a safer environment for everyone.
This work is part of a sewer project along Blair Stone Road, which will provide sewer service to properties along Orange Avenue and Blair Stone Road and improve the City's ability to manage the sanitary sewer system during service interruptions along Capital Circle.
