Tallahassee Police Mourn the Death of Fellow Officer

On June 8, the Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) experienced a devastating loss when Officer Christopher Fariello died in the line of duty. Officer Fariello started as a police officer trainee on July 11, 2018. He would go on to complete the academy and was sworn in as a full-time police officer on Jan. 11, 2019. Officer Fariello was proud to serve the citizens of Tallahassee and embodied the epitome of what it means to be a public servant.

"Officer Fariello's death is a stark reminder of the sacrifice the brave men and women of this department make every day," Chief Lawrence Revell said. "They put on their uniform and walk into the unknown to protect and serve this community. We are thankful for Officer Fariello's service. Please continue to keep his family and the entire department in your thoughts and prayers as we grieve this loss together."

Officer Fariello attended Florida State University where he graduated with a degree in criminology in May 2012. After graduating he worked for Wilton Manors Police Department as a code compliance administrative assistant and was promoted to police service aide before returning to Tallahassee to work for TPD as a patrol officer.

As a member of TPD's Patrol Unit, Officer Fariello enjoyed a high level of engagement with the community. Patrol officers are frequently first on scene to answer 911 calls for service, be it a noise complaint or major crime.

To pay tribute to his commitment to the City of Tallahassee and its citizens, Officer Fariello will be celebrated with full law enforcement honors. Final arrangements are being decided, and more information will be released as it becomes available.
