TPD Continues to Solicit Community Cooperation in Homicide (Update)

The Violent Crimes Unit is working diligently to bring closure to the homicide of 34 year old Alex Harvey, who was shot and killed on August 20, 2019. The homicide occurred at Clippers Barbershop, 1815 S. Adams St., at 1:37 a.m., during a birthday celebration. An adult and a small 5-year-old child were sitting inside a vehicle which was struck by the gunfire during the senseless shooting. Numerous witnesses attending the celebration were witness to the homicide and may know the suspect. Their cooperation is critical.
Investigators are determined to identify and seek the cooperation of any witnesses to the shooting or may know someone who was present during the shooting. Just one person with information can make a difference in this case. TPD Solicits Community Cooperation, Wednesday August 21, 2:43 p.m.
Investigators discovered that a party was being held at Clippers Barbershop 1815 S. Adams St. During the party a verbal altercation ensued between some of the attendees but ended prior to the victim’s arrival. While many were socializing outside the business, gun fire erupted causing havoc and attendees fleeing for safety. An adult and a small 5-year-old child were sitting inside a vehicle which was struck by the gunfire. Thankfully none of the occupants were injured.
Witnesses later began to search for the victim (their friend) who was last seen running away from the business. Sadly, the witnesses found the victim in a wooded area behind 1900 S. Monroe St. who had succumbed to a gunshot wound.
TPD’s Violent Crimes Investigators are aware that approximately 20-30 people were in attendance and saw or know the suspect who caused this senseless and life ending act. Investigators are urging those attendees and anyone else with information about this case to please call them at (850) 891-4200. The Tallahassee Police Department is currently investigating a death near the 1900 block of S. Monroe St. At approximately 1:37 a.m. officers arrived on scene to find a deceased person in the area. Officers discovered that the victim had succumbed to a gunshot wound.
This case has been assigned to investigators with TPD's Violent Crimes Unit. Investigators are asking anyone with information about this case to please call them at (850) 891-4200 or Crime Stoppers at (850) 574-TIPS. TPD will provide more information when it becomes available.
