July 30, 2022
On July 29, 2022, at 3:45 p.m., the Tallahassee Fire Department (TFD) was dispatched to a residential structure fire located in the 1900 block of Chimney Swift Hollow. Initial crews arrived to find heavy smoke and fire coming from the garage of a single-story home. TFD personnel immediately attacked the fire from the garage and were able to mostly contain it to that area. Although the fire reached the attic, firefighters stopped it from spreading throughout.
A search of the house revealed there were no occupants inside during the incident. While the fire appears to have started in the garage, the cause of the fire is under investigation. There were no reported injuries. The resident called 9-1-1 after smelling smoke and being alerted by smoke alarm.
TFD was assisted on scene by the Leon County Sheriff’s Office. The Red Cross was called to assist the residents.
