Adoptable Community Pets & Rehoming Program
The listing below are animals currently in need of homes in our community. This program is a courtesy to Leon County pet owners who have had to make the difficult decision to rehome their pet. These animals are offered for adoption by their owners at no cost as they are looking for a loving, lifelong home. Just a few simple steps and you'll be meeting your new best friend:
- When you see an animal you'd like to adopt, please download and complete the questionnaire (PDF); if you already have an approved questionnaire on file just give us a call! If you have issues submitting, please fill out the form, save it and send the saved PDF to adopt@talgov.com.
- Once an adoption questionnaire has been submitted, an adoption counselor will be in contact with you within 2 business days of receiving your application.
- After approval your questionnaire will be emailed to the animal's current owner. They will be responsible with following up with you to arrange a meeting of the pet so please be patient.

REFUS - A188951 A188951 My name is REFUS and my birth date is estimated to be April 26, 2018. I am a neutered male American Staffordshire Terrier and Labrador Retriever. Talk about a big handsome guy. Refus is a big cuddly bear who enjoys belly rubs and being showered with affection! He is quite spoiled and used to his family spending lots of quality time with him, which they no longer are able to do. He is looking for a home with ample room to exercise, plenty of puzzle toys (as he is highly intelligent), and when finished he can snore at the bottom of your bed or on your couch. Let it be known that he has a fear of balloons, so for his birthday on April 26th, please withhold the decorations, but bring on the festivities!

She is an active, social dog who is housebroken and good with other dogs. She hasn't been around cats yet. She is described by her finder as very sweet, playful, loves everyone and quite the snuggler! Loca loves snuggling because she loves staying warm and falling asleep in her person's lap. His curiosity is not a problem if you have a large area for him to stretch his legs and explore. He has been known to do well with children, however he has a fear of men with loud booming voices. FREDDIE - A188401 A188401 My name is FREDDIE and my birth date is estimated to be September 9, 2005. I am a neutered male Domestic Shorthair. Little Brother and Freddy lost their human six months ago, and their family has been doing the absolute best they can to make things work - but human allergies have made it impossible for them to stay where they are. They are a bonded (super) senior pair that have been spoiled indoor family members for their whole lives. Freddie loves hugs, snuggles with people and snuggling with Little Brother. He's a laid back dude that just loves to sit and watch his surroundings and the birds outside of the window. Freddie is neutered, up to date on vaccines, reliable with the litter box and just a "quiet, sweet old fellow." They have never lived with dogs or children (to our knowledge) but may acclimate with a slow introductory period. These boys just need a warm spot in the sunshine and a willing lap to spend their golden years in. They've suffered so much loss, they deserve nothing but the best possible home.

He's grown up around all kinds of people and animals and is looking for someone that adores cats but can be satisified with him and only him! If you are one-cat kind of family looking for a healthy, easy-keep outgoing boy to join the household, please fill out an application today!

BK - A189737 A189737 My name is BK and my birth date is estimated to be July 21, 2018. I am a neutered male Domestic Mediumhair. Meet BK! This sweet and playful night owl started off as a stray but when stomach complications arose, a kind neighbor got him the medical help he needed. He's recovered now and is ready for a forever home! He's used to being an indoor/outdoor cat who has shown he's litterbox trained. BK seems to love the ladies… he's had positive interactions with females; male cats and dogs in general not so much. Since surgery, BK prefers to keep pets and scratches to his ears, hugs or belly rubs are uncomfortable. BK would love a quiet home with someone he can watch the squirrels with.

Colt's current owner wanted you to know that he is crate trained, housebroken, and good with children. While Colt does enjoy sleeping in the bed, he is high energy and does require a lot of exercise. Colt says, no cats please. If Colt sounds like the perfect addition to your home, apply today!

SCOOTER - A189189 A189189 My name is SCOOTER and my birth date is estimated to be January 2, 2017. I am an unaltered male American Foxhound mix. I'm a tan and white 40lb hound mix & I'm slightly taller than a Beagle. I was found by a nice woman on Baum Road who never found by original owners so now I am looking for a new home! I am really sweet and smart. As a hound dog, I love to chase little furry animals so I would not do well in a house with a cat. I walk nicely on a leash and only pull hard when I pick up a scent or I see a furry little animal in the distance (like a cat). I will also try to chase deer but I know they're too fast for me. I would love to be in a home with a young, active family (and of course, a fenced-in yard would be super!).

WHISKERS - A188905 A188905 My name is WHISKERS and my birth date is estimated to be October 28, 2015. I am a spayed female Domestic Shorthair. Sometimes you adopt an animal and the fit just isn't right. This was the case with poor Whiskers. She was adopted in Colorado, but made her way to Tallahassee to stay with her adopter's parents. Their home, unfortunately, just wasn't right for her. Whiskers has spent most of her time hiding. Whether she's afraid of her new fur siblings or Florida Man, we can't be sure. But this sweet kitty really needs to find some new digs. Her current caretakers are hoping to find her a home where she can open up and finally be herself. They note she does seem skittish with other animals (which may explain the months long game of hide and seek). They also told us that even though she's shy, she genuinely seems to want love. If you have it in your heart to love our little wallflower Whiskers, please, contact her owners today!

GIGI - A189709 A189709 My name is GIGI and my birth date is estimated to be January 19, 2015. I am a spayed female Domestic Shorthair. Meet Gigi! She came from an owner who had to leave home for health reasons and wouldn't be returning. Unfortunately, the home was unheated and with no one living there, a kind rescue needed to move Gigi immediately. Gigi was once on the streets a long time ago and had a rough time of it-she had an eye injury that healed a long time ago. She is a LOVER and would do best as an only cat (but she does well with dogs!). She instantly makes herself at home and has a loving personality for any person she meets. She is strictly as indoor cat. She will come with everything she needs, food, litter box, litter and all her vaccines are up to date.
