TFD Responds to Two Early Morning Structure Fires

On February 5, the Tallahassee Fire Department (TFD) responded to two early morning structure fires.

The first structure fire was dispatched at 1:44 a.m. and located in the 500 block of N. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. TFD arrived on scene in less than five minutes and found heavy smoke and fire coming from the front of a single-story structure. TFD personnel were able to quickly attack the fire and get it knocked down. TFD crews performed a search of the structure and found no occupants inside. There were no injuries reported on scene.

TFD was assisted on scene by the Tallahassee Police Department and Leon County EMS. The State Fire Marshal's Office was called to the scene for further investigation. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

The second structure fire occurred at 8:20 a.m. in the 1700 block of De Saix Blvd. TFD was made aware that there was possibly one person inside the structure. TFD arrived on scene and found a mobile home with smoke and fire coming from a window. TFD personnel immediately attacked the fire and searched the structure for the reported occupant inside. After searching the structure, TFD found nobody inside the home. The fire appears to have originated in the kitchen area. There were no injuries reported on scene.

TFD was assisted on scene by the Tallahassee Police Department, Leon County EMS and the City of Tallahassee Utilities. The Red Cross was called to the scene to assist the resident.
