TPD Celebrates New Hires and Record Recruitment Effort
August 09, 2021
On Monday, Aug. 9, Chief Lawrence E. Revell and the Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) celebrated the swearing-in of 17 new officers.
TPD has worked tirelessly to recruit new officers. In doing so, TPD offers academy reimbursement, hiring bonuses and extended the take-home car program to a 50-mile radius, in place of the previous 35-mile radius. The recruitment efforts and incentives to hire more officers helps TPD maintain its commitment to excellent service and community policing.
"The men and women who protect and serve this City are the boots on the ground. They are the core of this agency. It's important we do all we can with recruitment efforts to hire new officers and retain other great officers to support them," said Chief Lawrence Revell. "I know these new officers are ready to do the important work of keeping our city safe and I could not be more proud of them."
The ceremony was held at City Hall with City leaders and the honorees' families and friends in attendance to safely celebrate the accomplishment of these brave men and women. In accordance with public health guidelines, attendees wore masks and remained socially distant.
The Tallahassee Police Department is one of the oldest and longest accredited police departments in the nation. The department is comprised of nearly 400 sworn members and nearly 200 civilian employees. For more information on how to join the ranks of the Tallahassee Police Department, visit Talgov.com/Police.
