TPD Makes Arrest in Child Pornography Case
November 09, 2020
On Sept. 2, the Tallahassee Police Department received two tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in reference to child sexual abuse material being sent from two different social media accounts. It was determined both accounts belonged to a Tallahassee resident.
A search warrant led to the discovery of several videos and images of child sexual abuse material on the suspect's computer. The suspect was arrested and charged with multiple offenses. He bonded out the next day.
Less than one month after his arrest, as TPD's Special Victim's Unit continued to conduct a thorough investigation, a tip was received indicating the suspect was still sharing illegal images on the same social media account and downloading material from the dark web.
On Nov. 5, arrest warrants for possession of child sexual abuse materials were obtained for the suspect, adding more than 70 counts to his previous charges.
The day the warrants were served, a female under the age of 18 was located at the suspect's home. Additionally, investigators believe the suspect was likely communicating with others using a mobile app to arrange meetings.
This is an active investigation. At this time, investigators believe there could be more victims. TPD asks anyone with information to call 850-891-4200. You can also remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 850-891-TIPS.
TPD reminds parents and legal guardians to be mindful of websites and apps that could be dangerous for children. Be sure to monitor your child's internet usage and educate yourself and your children about online activities that may put them at risk. Be vigilant and report any criminal activity to police.
Arrested:
