City Commission Takes Next Steps in Search for New City Manager

Community Meet & Greet with Finalists Scheduled for Sept. 1

Today, Aug. 26, the Tallahassee City Commission voted to take the next steps in their search process for the next City Manager, moving forward with a three-part interview process for three finalists.

• Karen Jumonville, Deputy City Manager of Tallahassee, FL
• Valerie Washington, Assistant City Manager of Fort Worth, TX

Renée Narloch & Associates, the public sector search firm specializing in senior level executive recruitment, developed and presented the process approved by the City Commission.

On Tuesday, Sept. 1, each of the finalists will interview with the Mayor and each Commissioner individually.

Later that day, a community meet-and-greet with the finalists will take place from 4-6 p.m. at Parkview at Cascades, 414 E. Bloxham Street. The Mayor and City Commissioners are scheduled to attend.

On Wednesday, Sept. 2, each finalist will provide a public presentation before the Commission about their interest in and qualifications for the role. Presentations will begin at 9 a.m. in the City Commission Chambers, second floor, City Hall, 300 S. Adams St. The presentations will stream live on the City’s government-access television channel, WCOT (Comcast channel 13), as well as online at Talgov.com, YouTube.com/CityofTLH and Facebook.com/CityofTLH.

Following the presentations, the City Commission will deliberate.

“This comprehensive, multi-step process will provide meaningful insight into each of the candidate’s qualifications and leadership style giving the City Commission ample opportunity to thoroughly vet them,” Renée Narloch said. “This process was thoughtfully designed to ensure opportunities for members of the public to engage with the finalists, learn more about their backgrounds and perspectives, and gain a better understanding of their approach to leading the organization and serving the Tallahassee community.”
