TFD to Welcome Students Back to School

The Tallahassee Fire Department is helping kick off the new school year by welcoming students as they return to the classroom on Wednesday, Aug. 12. 

Firefighters from all 16 TFD stations, members of the department's Public Education Team and other personnel will be at every elementary school across Tallahassee during morning arrival to greet students on their first day back.

At 7:30 a.m., Tallahassee Fire Chief Gene Sanders along with members of his command staff will be on hand at Bond Elementary School to welcome students and staff back to school.

The first-day welcome is part of TFD's continued involvement with local schools throughout the year. The department is also donating school supplies to support local students and will continue its popular Lunch Buddies program, providing additional opportunities for TFD members to connect with and support students throughout the school year.
