July 22, 2020
Early this morning, members of the Tallahassee Police Department’s Special Investigations Section, U.S. Marshal’s Violent Fugitive Task Force and Leon County Sheriff’s Office began searching for a wanted suspect to safely take him into custody. The suspect, Ladarius Dickey, 28, had a warrant for failing to appear on charges of felony fleeing and eluding. He had previously been arrested on firearms charges and was seen recently with several handguns.
Dickey was found traveling on North Monroe Street in a rented 2020 BMW, and a traffic stop was initiated. He attempted to flee in the vehicle but was quickly apprehended.
A search of the vehicle yielded over 30 pounds of cannabis, a loaded handgun and drug paraphernalia.
Based on information obtained at the scene of the stop, investigators were able to obtain a warrant for his residence. The search of his residence revealed additional cannabis and another firearm.
Dickey was charged with the original felony fleeing and eluding warrant, as well as trafficking in cannabis, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, resisting arrest without violence and possession of paraphernalia.
