TPD Arrests Suspected Armed Carjackers

Quick action by officers on patrol resulted in the arrest of two males for Armed Carjacking after a vehicle pursuit. The Tallahassee Police Department arrested Josiah Yant-Barber and Oliver Allen, for the armed carjacking which occurred on November 19, 2017 at approximately 9:24 p.m. at 1817 West Call Street. The victim reported she was robbed at gunpoint by two males matching the description of Mr. Yant-Barber and Mr. Allen, who took her vehicle.
The stolen vehicle was immediately spotted by an officer on Lake Bradford Road and a traffic stop was initiated. The suspects fled from officers in the victim's stolen vehicle into Jack Mclean Park at 700 Paul Russell Road then ran from the vehicle into the neighborhood behind the park. Officers located the two males hiding in a yard on Prospect Street and arrested them. A 9mm handgun was located during the arrest and impounded as evidence. TPD's Violent Crimes Unit assisted in the investigation. Mr. Yant-Barber was processed at the Leon County Detention Facility. Mr. Allen was processed at the Juvenile Assessment Center.
