Search Warrants Lead to Multiple Arrests, Illegal Drugs Recovered
September 09, 2021
The Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) arrested three people following a months-long investigation into opioid overdoses in the community. The investigation determined several individuals thought they were purchasing cocaine from the subjects but were instead given fentanyl.
Beginning in May, members of TPD’s General Narcotics Unit, Drug Interdiction Unit, Technical Operations Unit, Violent Crimes Response Team and Community Oriented Policing and Problem Solving Squad conducted a thorough investigation into several subjects known to be selling illegal narcotics out of their residences. Probable cause was developed, and on Sept. 8, search warrants were executed at each residence.
Upon a search of the first residence, in the 1100 block of Gibbs Drive, detectives discovered over 11 grams of cocaine, over 5 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. A search of the second residence, in the 1300 block of Pinellas Street, yielded 17 grams of cocaine, over 288 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, two firearms, a third firearm with an altered serial number and more than $1,900 in currency. Three subjects were subsequently taken into custody on charges ranging from selling cocaine within 1,000 feet of a church to maintaining a drug house.
This investigation is a testament to TPD’s dedication to eliminating illegal drugs from the community, as their presence impacts the safety and overall quality of life for citizens.
