TPD Celebrates New Recruits, Promotions and Positions

Friday, Jan. 29, Chief Lawrence E. Revell and the Tallahassee Police Department celebrated the swearing in of eight new officers, the promotion of two sergeants and the emergence of the Community Service Technician (CST) Program.

The CSTs are non-sworn employees who will be responsible for assisting the community and sworn officers with non-priority calls for service. They will aid with traffic crashes, delayed criminal investigations, processing crime scenes and identifying quality of life issues in the community. They will help TPD maintain its commitment to excellent service.

"It has been my mission since day one to continue a legacy of greatness within this department, which includes maintaining adequate staffing through recruitment, recognizing the hard work of our employees and the need for promotion. As with our newly promoted sergeants, these new officers and Community Service Technicians have chosen a career of service and dedication to this City, and I have no doubt they will serve professionally with honor," Chief Revell said.

In accordance with public health guidelines, the ceremony was held outdoors at Gene Cox Stadium. The honorees' families and friends, along with City leaders, gathered to safely celebrate the accomplishment of these brave men and women.

The Tallahassee Police Department is one of the oldest and longest accredited police departments in the nation, serving the citizens of Tallahassee since 1841. The department is comprised of nearly 400 sworn members and nearly 200 civilian employees.
