Miccosukee Rd./Fleischmann Rd. Intersection Improvement Project Timeline
The first phase of the project began in April, 2012 and included the construction of a stormwater drainage pond on the south side of Miccosukee Rd., west of Lonnie Rd.
The next phase of the project began with the construction of a one-lane, three-way roundabout at the intersection of Miccosukee Rd. and Fleischmann Rd. Construction on the roundabout began in June, 2012. This phase of the project required that Miccosukee Rd. be closed during the summer months. A detour was clearly signed to route traffic around the construction zone along Dempsey Mayo Rd.
Following construction of the roundabout itself, the intersection reopened on Friday, August 17, 2012, at 3:00 pm.
After the intersection is re-opened, the final phase of the project will begin. This phase of the project will consist of building sidewalks, installing fencing and replanting the tree canopy with southern magnolias, live oaks, dogwoods, redbuds and flowering crabapples. Weather permitting, it is expected that the project will be complete by October 2012.
