Active Units

The Active Units page is used to show all units currently active in CAD and their status.

The ALL button under the Active Units tab sorts all the units currently active across all agencies. It is sorted alphabetically by agency name: CD, EM, FD, PD, SO. Within each agency group the units are then sorted by Call Sign.

The user can also specify a specific agency filtering the results to only show that agency by clicking the button for that agency. The screen will refresh and show only units (color coded) for that particular agency.

Each agency has its own button to show only that agency's active units. Units are also sorted by their Call Sign within these tabs.

The Unit Last Location is the last location reported by that unit. This is populated when the unit status changes for that unit. This could be any action that would change the status of a unit; arrive, enroute, available, or some other status available in the system.

The most common Unit Status values are:
AV - Available
AR - Arrived
AS - Assigned
EN - Enroute
BU - Busy and Unavailable
BA - Busy but Available

Something to note is that the Unit Last Location is not AVL data and is only changed when the unit status is changed in CAD. It is not a real-time data point and should be used as an understanding of last disposition of that unit ONLY.

The On Duty Time is the date and time that unit signed onto CAD and was placed On Duty.

About

Close

Welcome to TPD View! You are looking at a near-real time excerpt of the Tallahassee Police Department's dispatch system. By utilizing TPD View, you can see active incidents in the community. This application will display traffic crashes (with a 15 minute delay), robberies, burglaries, carjacking, and stolen vehicles (with a 30 minute delay).

The system lists current incident information and displays all locations on a map. Traffic crash data allows motorists to see any traffic concerns before setting out on the road. The other incidents help community members know what is happening in their neighborhoods, places of business, and around the City.

TPD View is designed to remove all incident information from the screen as officers complete their initial investigation, or one hour after incident is posted, whichever occurs first. Traffic crashes will remain posted on the screen for two hours, or until officers reopen the roadway. TPD View is programmed this way to prevent those who would use information on the system to note any series of prolonged incidents that may tie up police resources and potentially provide a \"good\" time to commit crimes.

TPD implemented this application as a convenience for our community members. As always, we will continue to maintain communication with local media outlets. Working closely with our partners in the media wil allow us to provide updated information in the event of a major incident. On the rare occasion an event lasts more than one or two hours, the news media will be the best source of detailed information for the incident.

Users will also notice a ling to TOPS (Tallahassee Online Police Statistics). This site will allow viewers to do more in-depth research on criminal activity by location, crime type, or date.
