The City of Tallahassee will host a half-day contractor capacity training and meet and greet on Friday, Dec. 9. Meet with City staff and learn about programs the City offers, including business and partnership opportunities, for contractors in all trades. The event will feature a Certified U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME) Inspector training session, and representatives from the Office of Economic Vitality will be on site to offer Minority Business Enterprise and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (MBE/DBE) registration.

The training will be held from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Dec. 9 at the City’s Electric and Gas Logistics Facility, 2601 Jackson Bluff Road. Participation is free of charge to anyone interested in working with the City on various projects in construction and rehabilitation of housing.

Attendees will learn how to become a vendor with the City, see if they qualify as a Section 3 or MBE/DBE business and register to receive notification of project opportunities with the City. Please register no later than Monday, Dec. 5. To receive certification as a HOME Inspector, participants must attend the full HOME Inspector training session.

The City of Tallahassee supports the development of new affordable housing units for low- and moderate-income households and the preservation of neighborhoods through the rehabilitation of current housing stock. To learn more, visit Talgov.com/Housing.
