On April 19, at 10:08 p.m., the Tallahassee Fire Department (TFD) was dispatched to a residential structure fire located in the 700 block of Coble Drive. TFD crews arrived on scene in less than five minutes to find a home with smoke and fire showing from a window. First arriving crews quickly began to extinguish the fire and make an aggressive search for any occupants still inside. One patient was transported to the hospital due to smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
TFD was assisted on scene by Tallahassee Police Department, City of Tallahassee Utilities, Leon County EMS and the State Fire Marshal. The Red Cross was called to the scene to assist the residents.
Smoke alarms can provide the early warning necessary to escape a deadly fire. A properly installed and maintained smoke alarm is the only thing in your home that can alert you and your family to a fire 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Be sure to check your smoke alarms regularly to make sure they are working properly. Get more fire prevention information from TFD at Talgov.com/Fire.
