Residential Fire on Wekewa Nene Causes $200,000 in Damages

On Nov. 15, the Tallahassee Fire Department (TFD) responded to the 1400 block of Wekewa Nene after a call was received at 11:34 p.m. Upon arrival, crews found a fully involved residence. Crews immediately began an aggressive attack to mitigate the blaze and conducted a search for any occupants within the home.
Once the blaze was under control, it was determined that the homeowner made it out of the structure safely before TFD’s arrival. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental in nature. Damages are estimated to be $200,000. TFD was assisted on scene by Tallahassee Police Department, City of Tallahassee Utilities and Leon County EMS.
