TPD Celebrates New Promotions and Positions
June 21, 2021
On Monday, June 21, the Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) celebrated new promotions and the resurgence of the rank of Captain.
Captains will be responsible for operational support of the Patrol Bureau, TPD’s largest bureau. The reintroduction of these positions will assist the department in remaining agile in addressing emerging trends and issues in the community, while also increasing opportunities for training.
Lieutenants are responsible for the supervision of squad sergeants throughout the department, infiltrating each bureau to provide immediate operational support. The position keeps Captains and Majors informed of areas of concern within their command.
“It has been my mission since day one to continue a legacy of greatness within this department, which includes recognizing the diligent work of individuals and the need for promotions. Most officers begin their careers at TPD in Patrol, and the leadership of these new Captains and Lieutenants will benefit newer officers, the department and the community,” Chief Lawrence Revell said.
The Tallahassee Police Department is one of the oldest and longest accredited police departments in the nation, serving the citizens of Tallahassee since 1841. For more information about how to join the ranks of the Tallahassee Police Department, visit Talgov.com/Police.
