Operation Underground Railroad Recognizes TPD for Large-scale Investigation
March 25, 2021
Today, March 25, the Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) was presented with a new 2020 Ford Expedition from Operation Underground Railroad (O.U.R.). The vehicle features a custom wrap to raise awareness about human trafficking. This donation recognizes TPD’s efforts in the large-scale human trafficking investigation, Operation Stolen Innocence. The two-year investigation yielded the arrests of more than 170 people on charges ranging from human trafficking of a minor to solicitation of prostitution.
Following the conclusion of Operation Stolen Innocence in November 2020, TPD’s Special Victims Unit was contacted by Chris Swanson, Domestic Operations Consultant for O.U.R., congratulating its members on their success, diligence and commitment to bringing justice for victims. Funded by O.U.R., the new vehicle will aid the Special Victims Unit in its fight against human trafficking.
“We are thrilled to receive this new SUV for our Special Victims Unit. The recognition this unit and investigators received highlights their great work and remarkable success during Operation Stolen Innocence. As a result of their steadfast effort, our community is significantly safer,” Chief Lawrence Revell said. “Thank you to O.U.R. for providing the new vehicle to help our investigators in their fight against the dehumanizing practice of human trafficking.”
Sharing the mission of saving children and dismantling child exploitation, O.U.R. exists to enhance the nation’s law enforcement efforts by providing resources and investigative training in U.S. jurisdictions where a need exists. O.U.R. proudly supports and collaborates with law enforcement officials nationwide in this important cause to disrupt the trafficking and exploitation of children. JC Holt, Director of Domestic Operations for O.U.R., adds, "Operation Underground Railroad is grateful for an opportunity to work with Tallahassee PD on this project. We strive to partner with our law enforcement agencies to enhance the invaluable work they do in our communities.”
