TPD Investigates Shooting Incident at 2616 Mission Road

The Tallahassee Police Department is investigating a shooting incident which occurred Sunday morning, December 29, 2019 at approximately 1:49 a.m. Officers responded to an apartment complex located at 2616 Mission Road after residents reported several gunshots were heard in the area. Officers discovered several bullets from a firearm struck three vehicles and one apartment window. One vehicle was occupied by an older juvenile female. The apartment was occupied by an adult female. Two of the vehicles struck by bullets were not occupied at the time of the shooting. Thankfully there was no report of any injuries during the incident.
Officers began an on-scene investigation which included speaking with any witnesses, locating and interviewing any victims, finding the items which were struck during the gunfire, and locating any spent bullet casings in the area. TPD’s Forensic Unit responded to process the scene for evidence.
The investigation revealed there was a party at one of the apartments with numerous people in attendance. Security personnel at the apartment complex shut down the party prior to the shooting incident. Two different groups of males who been in attendance at the party had verbal conflict with each other. The conflict escalated into several gunshots being exchanged between the groups, causing rounds to strike the vehicles and apartment during the incident. The suspects fled the area before officers arrived. Many witnesses were uncooperative with officers during the initial investigation.
