Blueprint Intergovernmental Agency Unveils the New Skateable Art Park and Coal Chute Pond With a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Blueprint Intergovernmental Agency, comprised of the Leon County Board of County Commissioners and the City of Tallahassee Commissioners, invites the community to the unveiling of the Cascades Trail Skateable Art Park and Coal Chute Pond on Wednesday, June 22, at 10 a.m. at 810 FAMU Way. Opening festivities include demonstrations by pro skaters, free snacks and frozen treats, live music and more.
The two projects support Blueprint's goal to cultivate destinations and amenities in the Southside and along the Capital Cascades Trail. The Skateable Art Park embraces artistic elements to provide an optimal riding experience for skaters of all skill levels and provides a visually stimulating space for spectators. The central feature of the skate park is the 225-foot-long snake run, inspired by the mascot of Florida A&M University. It is the longest snake run in Florida.
Located directly behind the Skateable Art Park, Coal Chute Pond provides a recreational space for citizens to enjoy with a walking trail, lighting, seating, interactive musical instruments and cell phone charging stations.
The Cascades Trail Skateable Art Skate Park and Coal Chute Pond represent a $2.8 million investment and are a part of Blueprint's Capital Cascades Trail Segment 3 Amenities project. Both facilities will be maintained by the City of Tallahassee. Learn more at BlueprintIA.org.
