City Service Changes for Thanksgiving Holiday

The City of Tallahassee will observe the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 25-26. Following are schedule changes for the week of Nov. 21-27 for solid waste customers living inside the Tallahassee city limits (blue week), StarMetro, the Animal Service Center and City-run community centers.
Celebrate Family Day
On the Friday following Thanksgiving, Nov. 26, celebrate Family Day with a special event at Railroad Square, by shopping local at participating businesses or enjoying arts, culture and outdoor experiences. Tallahassee-Leon County is proud to be the first community in Florida to recognize Family Day, a holiday that celebrates the importance of family togetherness, support and love. Garbage and Recycling Collection
During the holiday week, some residential garbage, recycling, bulky items and yard waste customers will receive service one day later than their regularly scheduled service.

- Tuesday customers ► No change
- Wednesday customers ► No change
- Thursday customers ► Friday, Nov. 26
- Friday customers ► Saturday, Nov. 27
Garbage and recycling containers should both be rolled behind the curb for pickup by 6:30 a.m. on collection day, with both containers returned to the home no later than the day after collection. Bulky items and yard waste should be placed behind the curb no earlier than the weekend before your collection day. To look up collection dates for specific addresses, please visit Talgov.com. StarMetro Routes
StarMetro, the City's mass transit system, will change its operations for the holiday. There will be no fixed route or Dial-A-Ride services offered on Thursday, Nov. 25.
The following day, Friday, Nov. 26, StarMetro's fixed route service will operate on a Saturday schedule, and Dial-A-Ride will operate as normal. StarMetro's Call Center will also be open on Friday, Nov. 27, from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Animal Services
The Animal Service Center will be closed on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 25-26. Normal hours will resume on Saturday, Nov. 27, with the center opening at 10 a.m. for appointments only. Customers needing more information, including photos of animals available for adoption and to report lost and found pets, may visit Talgov.com/Animals or contact the Animal Service Center at 850-891-2950.
City Animal Control will be available for emergency situations only on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 25-26, and can be reached via the Consolidated Dispatch Agency at 850-606-5800.
City-run Community Centers
Community centers operated by the City of Tallahassee Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Affairs Department will be closed on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 25-26. Centers will resume normal hours on Monday, Nov. 29.
