Airport Ready for Holiday Travel Season
November 21, 2019
The holiday season is the busiest time of the year at airports. As such, the Tallahassee International Airport (TLH) is offering some tried-and-true tips to help passengers prepare for a safe and enjoyable air travel experience:
- Arrive at least 90 minutes prior to your scheduled departure time.
- Pack light, do not pre-wrap any gifts and check with your airline regarding possible checked baggage fees.
- If needed, ask for passenger assistance. Travelers or families of passengers with disabilities and/or medical conditions may call the TSA Cares helpline toll free at 1-855-787-2227 at least 72 hours prior to flying with any questions about screening policies and procedures and to find out what to expect at the security checkpoint. TSA Cares also arranges assistance at the security checkpoint.
- Bring a boarding pass, ticket or ticket confirmation and a proper ID. Before heading to the airport, travelers should make sure they have an acceptable ID. Identity verification is an important step in the security screening process. Travelers are also reminded that REAL ID enforcement is less than one year away. Beginning October 1, 2020, every air traveler 18 years of age and older will need a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license, state-issued enhanced driver’s license or another acceptable form of ID to fly within the United States. Check with www.TSA.gov for additional information.
Following these simple tips will make your holiday travel easier and more enjoyable. For more detailed travel tips, please visit the Transportation Security Administration’s website at www.TSA.gov.
