WRAP Winter Relief Assistance Program offered by Your Own Utilities
It's important to stay warm during this cold weather and take precautions to protect your family, pets and property. Your Own Utilities is also offering a flexible payment option for your winter heating bill.
Through the Winter Relief Assistance Program (WRAP), ALL residential and non-demand small business utility customers may carry over up to 25 percent of their January or February bill to the following month, when energy usage will likely be less. This is designed to help ease the financial burden than can result from higher energy use during the winter.
The carryover will be clearly identified as a separate line item on your March bill. This payment option can only be made one time per account, and the City will work with customers on an individual basis. To request this convenient billing option, simply call Your Own Utilities at 891.4YOU (4968) or use the DigiTally app, which can be downloaded as a mobile application for iOS and Android devices.
In addition to WRAP, qualifying low-income and disabled customers in need can receive utility bill payment assistance through the City's Project Share initiative and Good Neighbor Program, which provides weatherization and efficiency measures such as heating and air conditioning system retrofits, free ceiling insulation and water leak repair. Both programs are administered locally by the Capital Area Community Action Agency (CACAA) through a screening process, and those interested should call CACAA at 222.2043.
Also, be sure to take advantage of the many Energy Smart Plus (e+) products and services designed to save energy, water and money. Your Own Utilities offers a wide range of e+ options, such as free energy audits, energy retrofit grants, natural gas and ENERGY STAR appliance rebates, ceiling insulation grants, solar net-metering and energy-efficiency loans.
