Living on your own for the first time as a college student can be nerve wracking. A lot of responsibility comes with moving into off-campus housing. The City of Tallahassee Utilities can take some of the stress away by providing an easy way to set up and change your utility services online.
Simply follow the easy steps to start or transfer your utility services. While you're at it, make paying your monthly utility bill less stressful by signing up for the convenient and eco-friendly SmartBill. Upon enrollment, you will receive the paperless bill directly and securely in your email.
The SmartBill contains your account summary along with other valuable information to help you save energy, water and money. It also includes a link to e+Online, an easy-to-use account management tool that offers a no-fee, electronic payment option.
Also be sure to take a few minutes to set up a profile on e+Online to receive customized data and money-saving tips based on your specific energy usage. You can view your billing history, obtain historical information and associated graphs, and find out how weather and other factors affected your current bill.
Now that you have your utility services in order, here are tips you can follow to help lower your utility bills:
Make sure to pay attention to your thermostat. As a summer rule-of-thumb, keep it set at 78 degrees. When you leave your house or apartment, you can set it even higher. Also, take the extra effort of making sure to turn off all the lights.
These tips may seem like mundane tasks, but they can add up to lots of savings!
