What items are considered to be yard waste?

Raking LeavesYard waste - grass clippings, leaves, pine straw and shrub trimmings, placed in heavy duty trash bags or small cardboard boxes; and small limbs, no larger than 6 feet long and four inches in diameter, placed in piles no higher than four feet.

Composting is a great way to turn your yard waste into something useful for your lawn or garden. We have a free brochure about backyard composting you can request. Also, leaving your yard clippings on your grass acts as a natural fertilizer. It does NOT cause thatching.
