Safety Award and 2009 Electric Lineman FMEA Competition
The City of Tallahassee Electric Utility has received the Florida Municipal Electric Association (FMEA) First Place Safety Award for its continued commitment to safety and low incident rate during the past year. In the picture to the right, Tony Gullen accepts the award on behalf on the City of Tallahassee Electric Utility.
The City of Tallahassee Electric Utility was awarded first place in category D, which is comprised of utilities with 400,000 to 799,999 man-hours worked, for the least amount of accidents on the job. This recognition reflects the City of Tallahassee Electric Utility's commitment to protecting workers' safety, while also ensuring reliable electric service to customers. In an industry where there is a high possibility of serious injuries and fatalities, safety training is the best line of defense in preventing accidents and saving lives.
Awards were presented on February 28 at the FMEA Annual Safety and Florida Lineman Competition Awards banquet in Orlando. The banquet was the culmination of a two-day event that included technical skills training and the ninth annual Florida Lineman Competition.
