After a lengthy investigation, the Tallahassee Police Department, with the assistance of the US Marshal’s Service has located and arrested Ira Eugene Reynolds Jr. at 1881 Nekoma Court in Tallahassee. The investigation determined Mr. Reynolds was inside apartment “D” of the complex and after a short standoff, Mr. Reynolds was taken into custody. Mr. Reynolds was transported to the Leon County Jail for processing and additional charges are pending related to this case.
On July 12, 2014, at approximately 3:20am, the Tallahassee Police Department responded to 2502 Holton Street in reference to a report of a disturbance with loud yelling heard from within the complex. Officers arrived and located Kerwin Houston with a gunshot wound. Mr. Houston died as a result of his injuries.
Investigators from TPD Violent Crimes Unit and Forensic Unit responded to the scene and are conducting a methodical and thorough investigation into the homicide, including reviewing all evidence and interviewing all witnesses.
TPD has developed probable cause for the arrest of Ira Eugene Reynolds Jr. who has an active warrant for First Degree Homicide and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon in connection with this case. Community members with information about this case or the whereabouts of Mr. Reynolds are asked to please call TPD at 606-5800 or the Big Bend Crime Stoppers at 574-TIPS.
