The Tallahassee Police Department is currently accepting applications for the T.A.C. Students Summer Academy Leadership Program. This program is designed to prepare high school students to be leaders in every phase of their lives. It is a program that was inspired by the Tallahassee Police Department's Tactical Apprehension and Control (T.A.C.) Team and is led by police officers, investigators, and other professionals.
The acronym in T.A.C. Students represents: Training, Achievement, and Confidence. The goal of the program is to prepare students to have the skills and knowledge to be leaders now and in the future. Students never know exactly what they are going to face in life. Through training and achievements they develop the confidence to overcome any situation. Becoming a part of this team is challenging, but the experience is one of a kind.
During the five day program, students will have four interactive classes: Decision-Making, Defining Relationships, Planning for the Future, and Becoming a Leader. During the final day students will attempt to solve a mock crime scene investigation, where they are the police officers, investigators, forensic technicians, dispatchers, and public information officers.
Date: August 4th-8th, Monday-Friday
Time: 8:00am - 5:00pm
Location: Florida Public Safety Institute (Meet at the Tallahassee Police Department)
There are a limited number of openings for the summer academy and the process is competitive. Any interested high school students or parents of interested students, should contact Investigator Danny Jeter at 891-4350 or visit the T.A.C. Students web page.
A special thank you to the Florida Public Safety Institute for providing the facilities.
