Members of the Tallahassee Police Department were honored by MADD last night for their efforts in DUI Enforcement and underage alcohol possession enforcement.
The following 10 officers accounted for 508 of the 698 DUI arrests made by TPD in 2012. They are:
- 25-49 DUI Arrests / Officers Chris Woods and Jerome Megna
- 50-74 DUI Arrests / Officers Jim Harris, David Keller, Nick Lowe, Andy Meresse, Derek Braxton, Jon Schulze and Brian Githens
- Underage Drinking Enforcement / Officer Rachelle Denmark
These 11 officers accounted for 508 of the 698 DUI arrests made by TPD in 2012. The Tallahassee Police Department was also honored for supporting the MADD Victim Impact Panels each month. For more than two years, TPD has provided a meeting space and assigned an officer to be present at each panel meeting free of charge to MADD. The Victim Impact Panel allows victims and victim survivors of DUI crashes to share their stories with defendants who have been court ordered to attend for various charges including DUI.
TPD Interim Chief Tom Coe said “TPD is extremely proud of its relationship with MADD and continues to support their goal of zero lives lost due to DUI crashes. We are delighted by the recognition and will continue to serve as a partner in this effort to reduce DUI crashes and to educate our community on the dangers of driving while impaired.”
