The Tallahassee Police Department announces the 2014 Citizens’ Police Academy (CPA) schedule. Tallahassee Police Department will host three classes during 2014 in January, April and September. The CPA is an information process where students learn more about the inner-workings of TPD while participating in several police related activities. There are no costs to our citizens.
CPA class members will receive information, instruction, and demonstrations in police use of force, narcotics enforcement, gang response and traffic issues just to name a few. The class will receive presentations from the Special Response Team, K-9, Special Operations, Criminal Investigations, Forensics, and much more. Class members will have the option to participate in a police-ride-along on a patrol shift and visit the Florida Public Safety Institute for a TAC Team and weapons demonstration during the program.
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
21 years of age or older.
- Pass a criminal history check.
- Work or live in Tallahassee/Leon County.
- Be able to commit to attending all classes during the 9-week class period.
Citizens may apply online at Talgov.com (http://www.talgov.com/tpd/tpd-cpa.aspx).
