TPD & U.S. Marshal's Office Team Up
August 15, 2013
On January 15, the Tallahassee Police Department responded to the Palms West Apartment complex, #131 for a reported home invasion robbery. Further investigation by TPD's Violent Crimes Unit found one person was shot in the arm and the robbery appeared to be drug related. After processing the scene and review of the evidence, a suspect was developed. Members of TPD's Career Criminal Unit and the US Marshal's North Florida Regional Task Force were brought in to assist and they were able to locate and arrest one of the suspects - Korshon Williams at 2525 Texas Street Apartment #232 on July 12.
Further investigation revealed the second suspect - Tamika Reese. Ms. Reese fled the area, but with the assistance of the U.S Marshal's South East Regional Task Force, fugitive Reese was arrested on August 13, hiding inside a sofa at a residence in Douglas, Georgia. Reese is currently in the Coffee County Jail in Douglas, Georgia awaiting extradition to Leon County.
US Marshal Ed Spooner stated "The days of fugitives crossing state lines to avoid capture are long over. The partnership between the US Marshals FRFTF and the Tallahassee PD insures that Tallahassee's most wanted will be pursued, captured and returned to Tallahassee to face justice."
Chief Dennis Jones said "Without the outstanding relationship between TPD and US Marshal's, this violent fugitive would still be on the run. I want to thank the US Marshal's for their assistance in this case and look forward to working together in the future."
