Cold Cases

Recent advances in DNA technology have provided law enforcement agencies across the nation with the capability to re-examine forensic evidence from cases once thought to be unsolvable and consequently provide successful resolution through criminal prosecution. To that end, the Tallahassee Police Department recently formed the Major Case Assessment Team, (850) 891.4462

The Major Case Assessment Team (MCAT) is responsible for investigation into unsolved homicides and unsolved missing persons cases. The team consists of two Homicide Investigators with the Tallahassee Police Department. The team reviews open/unsolved major cases, discuss solvability factors of the reviewed cases and provide written documentation as to follow up investigation recommended on those cases.

Reviewed cases that are recommended for additional investigation remain with the team and are actively pursued. The team utilizes several resources to aid in their follow-up investigations. The goal of every investigation reopened is to provide judicious resolution to the victims and their families.

Ali I'ishs GilmoreFebruary 3, 2006 - Ali I'isha Gilmore

Ali I'isha Gilmore was reported missing on February 06, 2006. She resided at 231 Loraine Court, Tallahassee, Florida.

Case Description: On February 06, 2006 Tallahassee Police Department officers responded to 231 Loraine Court in response to a report of a missing person. Initial information revealed that Gilmore was four months pregnant and that she and her husband were separated. The victim had not been to work on the previous Friday and on Monday. No one had contact with Ali during the weekend. The investigation showed that the last contact Gilmore had was at 12:48 a.m. on Friday, February 03, 2006.

Roger PleaughNovember 11, 2005 – Roger Pleaugh

Roger Pleaugh, a 45 year old male, was found by 448 W. Georgia St. on November 13, 2005 and was transported to the hospital due to having head injuries. Pleaugh had a makeshift camp behind this location and told the responding officer that he had been drinking, was beat up and some items were taken from him. Pleaugh managed to crawl to the sidewalk and call for help. Pleaugh succumbed to his injuries on November 21, 2005. There were no known witnesses to the incident.

Sylvester Davis Jr.October 26, 2005 - Sylvester Davis Jr.

Sylvester Davis Jr., 33 year old male, was found murdered in his residence located at 1521 Arnold St., Tallahassee, Florida.

Case Description: On October 26, 2005 Sylvester Davis Jr. was found murdered inside of his residence at 1521 Arnold St. Investigation revealed that Davis died as a result of foul play. A neighborhood canvas was conducted with limited success. Based on the condition of the scene and subsequent investigation it appears that the victim knew his assailant(s). Davis' last known contact was on October 25 sometime after 11:00 p.m. and his body was not discovered until the late afternoon of October 26.

Tony PierrelouisApril 16, 2005 - Tony Pierrelouis

Tony Pierrelouis, 24 year old male, was shot to death near the Calypso Café located in the 1600 Block of Mill St., Tallahassee, Florida.

Case Description: On April 16, 2005 at approximately 3:45 a.m. Tony Pierrelouis was outside of the Calypso Café in the 1600 Block of Mill St. Witnesses indicated that a vehicle pulled up in front of their vehicle. Pierrelouis exchanged words with a passenger in the vehicle and shots were fired. Pierrelouis was struck and he died as a result of being shot. There were several people outside of the club at the time of the incident, but when officers arrived most had left the scene.

Clyde ThomasDecember 10, 2003 - Clyde Thomas

Clyde Thomas, 63-year-old male, was found murdered in his residence located at 2925 Mock Dr., Tallahassee, Florida.

Case Description: On December 10, 2003 Clyde Thomas was found murdered inside of his residence located at 2925 Mock Dr. Initial indications revealed that Thomas was a small time drug dealer. A neighborhood canvas was initiated which revealed limited information. The murder occurred several hours prior to the discovery of Thomas' body.

Sonnyrey Armendariz MunozJuly 12, 2001 - Sonnyrey Munoz

Sonnyrey Armendariz Munoz., 35 year old Hispanic male, was found murdered at the Lafayette Motel, located at 1525 W. Tennessee St. inside of one of the rooms.

Case Description: On July 12, 2001 a cleaning person discovered the body of Sonnyrey Munoz in one of the rooms of the Lafayette Motel. Munoz had recently been released from the Leon County Detention Center and was in the process of getting his job back in order. Munoz had contact with friends on the previous evening before the discovery of his body. A canvas of the area revealed limited information and there were no reports of illegal activity in the immediate area during the time frame in question.

James Edwin BrannerJuly 02, 1996 - James Edwin Branner

James Edwin Branner was found deceased in a motel room at the Prince Murat Motel located at 745 N. Monroe St. on July 02, 1996.

Case Description: On July 02, 1996 James Branner was found deceased in a room of the Prince Murat Motel. Branner's death was ruled a homicide based on evidence found at the scene. Witnesses reported seeing the victim with a white male with long brown hair on the day prior to the discovery. This person has yet to be identified. Branner was released from the jail a short time prior to his death and his known acquaintances had been interviewed at the time of the initial report.

May 12, 1991 - Seymour Rice

Seymour Rice, 66-year-old male, was found murdered inside a utility shed at the Old City Cemetery. He had recently been employed as a security guard at the cemetery.

Case Description: On May 13, 1991 city workers discovered the body of security guard Seymour Rice in a utility shed on the cemetery's property. Investigation revealed Rice had been murdered in the evening hours of May 12, 1991 and may have had a confrontation with the suspect prior to his death while walking to work.

Rice and his family had recently moved to Tallahassee where he found work as a security guard weeks prior to his death.

Earl D. ErvinAugust 15, 1987 – Earl D. Ervin

Earl D. Ervin, 55 year old male, was found murdered at the Solid Waste Division, City of Tallahassee workplace located at 2727 Municipal Way.

Case description: On 08-15-87 the body of Earl Ervin was found inside of the Solid Waste Division facility located at 2727 Municipal Way at approximately 8:00 p.m. This date was a Saturday and there were no employees working. Ervin had phone contact with a supervisor in the early afternoon. The initial investigation revealed several persons of interest. There was a call from a black female to 911 several days after the incident occurred who wished to remain anonymous and she provided some information. It is believed that this female may have more information to provide, however at the time of the investigation this female was never identified or interviewed.

Donald WilliamsAugust 1, 1987 - Donald Williams

Donald Williams, a 25 year-old male from Madison County, was found murdered in the carport of 702 Campbell St.

Case Description: In the early morning hours of August 1, 1987 neighbors called police to report finding Williams deceased in the carport of 702 Campbell St. Initial investigation revealed Williams collapsed in the carport of this residence but the initial struggle with the assailant(s) occurred away from the house.

The victim was reported to be a drug user and frequented areas where drugs were sold. Evidence recovered on scene suggests a suspect was injured during the confrontation.

Dorothy ThomasSeptember 6, 1957 - Dorothy Thomas

Dorothy Thomas, a 27 year-old female, was an employee of Nu Way Cleaners at 633 W. Tennessee St. She was found murdered in the bathroom of the business.

Case Description: Between the hours of 9 and 10 a.m. on September 6, 1957 a deliveryman discovered the body of Mrs. Thomas in the bathroom of the business in which she worked. Mrs. Thomas was the lone employee at work and evidence suggests a customer had been in the business just prior to her death.

Mrs. Thomas was apparently dragged from the front area of the business to the bathroom where she was stabbed multiple times resulting in her death.

Evidence obtained on scene and during the subsequent investigation focused on a particular suspect. This individual remains the primary suspect and is currently living in another state.
