Support Groups

These are groups that are part of the Tallahassee Senior Services or meet at the Tallahassee Senior Center.

Al-Anon - Support for families and friends of alcoholics
Beginners: Friday, 7:00 - 8:00pm
Family Group: Friday, 8:15pm
Al-Ateen: Friday, 8:00 - 9:00pm
Family: Group, Wednesday 7:15pm
Support groups meet weekly. Anyone is welcome who has a drinking problem or for family and friends of those with drinking problems. For more information, visit the Al-Anon Teen website.

Debtor's Anonymous
Monday, 7:00pm

Debtor's anonymous is a non-profit group helping people recover from compulsive spending. The group is self-supporting through contribution. The only requirement for Debtor's Anonymous is a desire to stop uncontrolled spending. Meetings emphasize the "Twelve Steps of Recovery," as well as many other tools and strategies. Anyone is welcome who has a problem with debt or knows someone who does. For more information, visit the Debtor's Anonymous website.

Diabetes Support Group at TSC
2nd and 4th Wednesday, 1:00 - 2:00pm

This group offers support for people with diabetes. Among the concerns covered are diet, exercise, medication, health tips and glucose monitor equipment maintenance.

Diabetes Education and Support Group at Smith-Williams
2nd Wednesday, 12:00n - 1:00pm

Focuses on obtaining supplies, eating properly, obtaining optimal health and quality of life. Participants will hear expert speakers and have opportunities to share. The group is a partnership between Tallahassee Senior Services and "Diabetes and You."

Insight Low Vision Support Group
3rd Tuesday, 1:00 - 2:45pm

Participants come to share ideas, support, love and laughter with others adjusting to the loss of their sight. People of all ages with low or no vision, supportive friends and family members are welcome. There is no fee. Donations to the Center are appreciated.

LifeLyme Education & Support Group
2nd Tuesday, 7:00 - 9:00pm

This group holds monthly meetings for Lyme disease patients and family members. The goal is to get current knowledge for treatment and exchange information for assistance and support. Contact Sandi Landford at 906-9108 for more information

TOPS (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly)
Fridays, 9:30 - 11:00am

National Dues $20 per month
Local Dues $3 per month
