1099-R Tax Form Notice
The 2015 calendar year tax form 1099-R from City of Tallahassee, Empower and Prudential were mailed the last week of January, 2016. Please remember there could be delivery delays due to an address change, US Postal Service delivery irregularity, or other circumstances.
If you have not received your 1099-R by February 16, 2016, please see contact numbers listed below to request a reprint of your tax form:

New City of Tallahassee Pension Plan Beneficiary Forms
The Retirement Office is updating their records and we need your help!!! We are requesting that members please take the time to complete a “NEW” City of Tallahassee Pension Plan Beneficiary Designation Form (PDF). Once completed, please submit to the Retirement Office via interoffice, Box A-30 or fax to 850-891-0814.
An Important Reminder from your Retirement Team
The transition from Prudential to Empower over the last two and a half months has been very active. The City and Empower have both worked hard to ensure a smooth transition of data as well as new features and services. As many of you may remember from our Pre-Transition Seminars, one of these new features is Managed Account Services.
Managed Account Services is a partnership between the participant and the professionals at Empower to actively oversee your account. The investment team at Empower will work with you to set up a custom financial plan for your retirement, provide you with active re-allocation of your account based on this plan, and will send you an annual report of how your investments are performing. The normal annual cost for this service (billed quarterly) is 0.40% of the total amount that they oversee.
But wait; remember that the City negotiated a 90-day “free look” period for you to use this service at no cost. In order to take advantage of this free look you must sign up by October 22nd, 2015….that is the last time you can initiate this service and receive a 90-day period at no cost. Any participant that signs up after October 22nd, 2015 will be billed from the first day of service. It’s always nice to “try before you buy”, so don’t miss this chance. Please take a few minutes over the next few days to log into your account, examine Managed Account Services, and determine if it is right for you!
But there's more, if you are already signed up for Managed Account services, you have been enjoying this at no cost. However, your 90-day free period may be drawing to a close. If you have decided to continue this service, there is no action required; the service will automatically continue and the 0.40% fee will begin at the end of your trial period. If, however, you have not been satisfied with the Managed Account Service; please login to your account – or contact Empower – to ensure that the service is cancelled before your trial period comes to a close and fees begin.
