October 26, 2017
The Special Investigations Section of the Tallahassee Police Department began to investigate a residence located at 223 Columbia Drive after receiving several tips from the community about the possible sale of illegal drugs from inside the house. TPD officers utilized several surveillance techniques and developed information leading them to believe one of the residents was selling illicit drugs out of the home. Using the information gathered, the investigators secured a search warrant for the house signed by the Honorable Judge J. Layne Smith on October 18, 2017.
On October 25, 2017, TPD investigators served the search warrant at the house. During the service of the search warrant and as the house was searched by the officers, evidence of illegal drug sales was collected, including almost 100 grams cannabis, 10 grams of the drug commonly referred to as "molly," and materials used to package illegal drugs.
At the conclusion of the search warrant, the residents of the home, Antonio Harris and Jelesia Barrett were taken into custody and charged with possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, possession of more than 20 grams of cannabis, possession of cannabis with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia and keeping a place where drugs are kept or sold. Both arrestees were transported to the Leon County Receiving Facility for processing. The probable cause is attached to this release.
