TPD Investigates Traffic Crash

After an extensive review of all the collected evidence and interviewing all identified witnesses, Traffic Homicide Investigators have made an arrest in the below case. On Wednesday afternoon, TPD arrested Azende Thompson for Vehicular Homicide in the death of Mr. Ivey. Mr. Thompson was taken to the Leon County Detention Facility for processing.
For further details, the probable cause affidavit is attached to this release and has been redacted in accordance with Florida Statute 119.07(2)(e) & 119.071(5)(a).

Sadly, the passenger has died as a result of his injuries. As the investigation continues, investigators are releasing the name of the victim and driver in this accident. PoliceChief Michael J. DeLeo offers his condolences to the family of Mr. Ivey and has them in his thoughts and prayers. TPD investigators are continuing to interview known witnesses and process evidence collected from the crash scene. The Tallahassee Police Department is currently investigating a traffic crash which occurred in the 3700 block of Old St. Augustine Road, involving a single vehicle. TPD and Emergency responders were called to the scene at about 3:26 a.m. for the accident and immediately provided medical attention to those involved. A passenger was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries. TPD Traffic Homicide Investigators were called to the scene and have assumed the investigation.
Traffic Homicide Investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash, but did not speak with an officer on scene or anyone with information about the accident to please call (850) 891-4200 and ask to speak with the Traffic Homicide Unit. They may also remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at (850) 574-TIPS.
