Seeking Persons with Information
August 07, 2017
August 7 Update
As the investigation continues into Saturday morning's shooting, TPD's Violent Crimes Unit investigators have obtained more information which can be released about the incident. The initial investigation has revealed the incident did not start near the Whataburger on Lake Bradford Road as first believed.
TPD investigators have learned shots were first fired in the parking lot of Waffle House at 1939 West Tennessee Street just prior to the homicide. Several minutes later the four (4) victims were shot while traveling in the 1700 block of West Tennessee Street. The victims' vehicle came to rest at the intersection of Call Street and Stadium Drive.
The deceased has been identified as Travis Wilson. Chief DeLeo's thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Wilson's family as they deal with his passing. TPD is urging anyone who saw the incident at either location to please come forward.
TPD believes there were other vehicles traveling in the 1700 block of West Tennessee Street at the time, whose occupants witnessed the shooting. Investigators also believe there were witnesses at the Waffle House when the shots were fired in the parking lot. TPD has established a Hotline for information related to the shooting at (850) 891-4462 and are also seeking residents who may have captured the incident or any portion of it on a cell phone. TPD is also reminding anyone who has information about the incident, that they can remain completely anonymous if they decide to provide information by calling Crime Stoppers at (850) 574-TIPS. Crime Stoppers does not want your name, only your information. Citizens may also call TPD directly at (850) 891-4200.
Deceased: Travis Wilson, Black Male, DOB: 12/02/90
Original Release
As the Tallahassee Police Department continues to follow up on the three (3) separate shootings this weekend, Chief Michael J. DeLeo is asking anyone with information about any of the incidents to contact TPD’s Violent Crimes Unit or to call Crime Stoppers.
First and foremost we are asking our citizens to remain calm and know TPD is working diligently on all three (3) cases,” said Chief DeLeo.
Investigators continue to work around the clock on the shootings and have already arrested the shooter from the incident at 475 Appleyard Drive. The investigation has shown that the shooting was over trading a cell phone and has no connection to the other incidents.
TPD investigators are attempting to determine if there is a link between the shootings in the area of the Whataburger on Lake Bradford Road and Magnolia Drive. They believe both incidents may have been witnessed by several people who were in the vicinity at the time of the shootings.
“These are not random acts of violence, and we have no reason to believe that there is a threat to the general public,” said Chief DeLeo. “Investigators have brought resolution to one shooting by arresting the offender and continue to work diligently to resolve the latest incidents.”
“It is my sincere hope someone who has information about these shootings will come forward and provide information on exactly what occurred early this morning and this afternoon. It is critical that the community works together to find justice for the victims and ensure the safety of our community,” Chief DeLeo
Chief DeLeo is also reminding our community residents they can be completely anonymous if they decide to provide information about any crime by simply calling Crime Stoppers at (850) 574-TIPS. Crime Stoppers does not want your name, only your information. Citizens may also call TPD directly at (850) 891-4200.
