Tallahassee Police Officers Interrupt Robbery

Tallahassee Police officers interrupted a robbery at a convenience store after recognizing suspicious activity at the business. During the late evening shift on Thursday, July 6, 2017, Tallahassee Police officers were conducting patrol of their assigned area and heard the sounds of someone yelling near the Time Saver 519 West Brevard Street. The officer saw a male backing out of the front door of the business, pointing his finger toward the store, then throwing an object inside the store. The suspect started to leave the area when he saw the officer. The officer recognized the activity at the store was suspicious and quickly detained the suspect after the store owner yelled “stop him”. Further investigation revealed the suspect entered the business holding a sword upright at the owner demanding a beer and the store owner was able to defend himself with a broom handle. The officer’s quick actions in recognizing the criminal activity stopped the suspect from possibly injuring the business owner. Officers were able to locate the weapon inside the store which was a metal sword approximately two feet long. The suspect, Reginald Lide, was arrested for robbery with a weapon and transported to the Leon County Jail.
