COPPS Conversation Leads to Arrests at Pool Party

The Tallahassee Police Department made three arrests on Saturday, June 24, 2017 while monitoring a pool party at the College Club Townhomes located at 2833 South Adams Street. The Community Oriented Policing and Problem Solving (COPPS) Squad was present at the apartment complex to ensure there were no public safety problems throughout the pool party. During the event, officers began speaking with three men attending the party. As they spoke with them, the officers noted the three were wearing clothing associated with being in a gang. During the conversation, a K-9 officer was requested for an exterior sniff of the SUV, a tan Ford Explorer, in which the three men were seen entering and exiting.
The K-9 dog gave a positive alert for the odor of illegal narcotics coming from within the SUV. The investigation conducted revealed illegal drugs, ski masks, gloves, and several firearms in the Explorer. The firearms found in the vehicle were two semi-automatic rifles identified as an AK-47 and AR-15.
The three men were arrested for possession of less than 20 grams of cannabis and drug paraphernalia. The guns found in the vehicle were impounded for safe keeping.

- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia pursuant to Florida Statute 893.147
