TPD Arrests Mahan Drive Robbery Suspect
May 13, 2019
On April 9, 2019 TPD responded to the 1300 block of Mahan Drive reference a robbery. Upon arrival officers learned that the victim had just closed the business and placed a bank bag inside the vehicle. Two armed male suspects approached the victim, with one of the suspects pointing a firearm at the victim’s head demanding the money. During the encounter the victim drew their firearm and began firing at the suspects as they fled the area. Multiple pieces of evidence were recovered from the scene to include the suspects firearm, and the victim’s bank bag covered with the suspects blood. Those blood samples were submitted to FDLE for testing.
During the investigation, Calvin Anderson arrived at a local hospital with multiple gunshot wounds. It was discovered that Anderson was also wanted for a robbery that occurred at the Dade Street Community Center on March 28, 2019 (TPD case #19-46095). Upon officer’s arrival, Anderson was placed into custody for the warrant and taken to the Leon Count Detention Facility, after being released from the hospital.
FDLE confirmed that the blood samples from the bank bag matched the DNA of Anderson, thus enabling Investigators with the Violent Crimes Unit to establish probable cause to charge Anderson with the robbery that occurred on April 9, 2019. The investigation continues as the other suspect is unknown at this time.
