The Census Bureau provides data for many geographic areas, including counties, cities, census tracts, block groups, and blocks. Leon County is divided into 48 census tracts, further divided into 169 block groups and then further divided into 4,996 blocks. Blocks are the smallest geographic areas used by the Census Bureau. Blocks are nested in block groups which are, in turn, nested in census tracts.
