Safety Guidelines

Play Safe & Smart

We continue to evaluate the availability of recreational offerings while being mindful of local health guidance and data. Athletic fields (except the Meadows Soccer complex), picnic pavilions and greenspaces are available for use by groups of 10 or fewer people. Modified use of tennis, pickleball and basketball courts, as well as the 50m pool at Trousdell, is also available.

Adult and Youth Fall Sports and Activities – Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have continued to evaluate and adjust activities to provide recreational outlets while best protecting public health. As we consider the activities that we typically host during the fall months, we will continue taking into account our community's latest COVID-19 trends and make adjustments based on changing events and needs.

  • As of now, fall youth and adult sports registration has been delayed.
  • The Meadows Soccer complex is scheduled to resume taking field rentals for modified practices beginning September 28.

The following are available for modified use:

  • sand volleyball courts at Tom Brown and Optimist parks
  • racquetball courts, pump track and RC car track all located at Tom Brown Park
  • Mike Blankenship Skate Park
  • dog parks located in Tom Brown, San Luis Mission, Bloxham and E. Peck Green (located in the Chain of Parks downtown adjacent to the LeRoy Collins Leon County Library) parks

Whether you are taking part in the fun or just watching, residents using any City park amenities should follow CDC safety guidelines by keeping physical distance at all times, using hand sanitizer and wearing a face covering when possible. To protect the health of participants, the City will continue to evaluate best practices and take measured steps as it incorporates additional recreational options.
