The Office of the City Manager is responsible for maintaining the management functions of City government and administering the day-to-day operations of most facets of City government. The City Manager's Office is responsible for oversight of the City Commission meeting agenda process. The office works closely with the City Commission to establish long term strategic plans, as well as short term targets, which are formulated into the City's Target Issues. This is accomplished through the scheduling of City Commission goal setting retreats. These goals and targets guide the operation of city government as it continues its orientation to customer satisfaction and quality improvement.
Within the City Manager's Office resides the three Assistant City Managers and the Assistant to the City Manager. The three Assistant City Managers oversee three service areas comprised of Development and Transportation Services, Safety and Neighborhood Services, and Utility Services and provide overall management direction and policy guidance to department directors that are assigned to their respective service area. The Assistant to the City Manager oversees the Communications Department, Facilities Management and the Special Inquiries Analyst.
