Nightly Closures on Old Bainbridge
Road Begin Sunday
July 30, 2014
Enhancements Coming to Wastewater System - Beginning Sunday, August 3, Old Bainbridge Road will be closed nightly from Brevard Street to 7th Avenue to allow for underground wastewater improvements. Work will occur each night from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., ensuring that Old Bainbridge Road can be used for travel during the daytime hours. Weather permitting, work is expected to be completed in mid-September.
To limit disruption, the Old Bainbridge Road Wastewater Improvement Project will be completed using an innovative approach that involves installing a sturdy liner inside the existing pipe. The liner will improve the system by making the pipe resistant to tree roots, which frequently penetrate the current system. Enhancements to the system are part of a proactive maintenance program that will reduce potential impacts to homes and offices in the area. To access the underground system, crews will use existing manholes within the roadway and will not disturb the newly paved road.
Local access for residents and businesses will be maintained, and detour routes around the closure will be clearly marked. While closing the road may cause a temporary inconvenience, it will allow work to be completed safely and in less time.
